Objectives


Students should be able to decipher and read Modi script, to interpret old Modi (Marathi) documents and to transcript Modi documents into Devanagari for historical research purpose after doing this course.

The student should have insight both into the theoretical and practical aspects of research methodology, research ethics as well as the quality criteria for research. Students are expected to acquire the following;

Outcome of the Modi Script course
  1. The participants will be well versed with reading and writing of the Modi script.
  2. The participants will get acquainted with the types of historical documents that are primary sources of the Maratha History.
  3. The participants will gain primary knowledge of medieval Marathi language that was used in administration in Medieval period.
  4. The participants will get knowledge of calendrical systems that were in use in Medieval Deccan.

Learning Mode and Medium:

The lectures will be on online mode and the medium of instruction will be Marathi.

Exam Structure

A written examination of 100 marks will be conducted at the end of the course.
