Procedure for Admission

For Indian Candidates

The Department has various committees to carry out its commitment of providing academic enviournment and to achieve its long term goals.Candidates seeking admission to M.A. course shall apply on a prescribed form. The application form duly filled in by the candidate in his own hand and a passport –size photo affixed together with attested copies of the documents listed below, must reach the Asstt. Registrar, Academic Section of the Institute by 10th June.

  • Marks-lists of the following qualifying examinations : SSC, HSC, B.A. / B.Sc.
  • Character certificate from the Head of the Department / from which the candidate has obtained his qualifying degree

Note :

  • Application incomplete in any sense will not be considered for admission
  • If the final degree examination result is not declared the candidate shall submit statement of marks of previous year (second year) degree examination mark sheet.
  • Admission to a course will initially remain provisional. It will be confirmed when all the documents specified below are submitted and accepted. A notice for the submission of eligibility application alongwith the below mentioned documents will be issued after the provisional admission process is over. Failure to submit the documents then will be viewed seriously by the authorities and action will be taken as per rules against the defaulting student.
  • Migration Certificate (no objection certificate from the University last attended).
  • Mark-list of the last qualifying examination.
  • Degree / Passing certificate of the last qualifying exam.
  • Character certificate from the Head of the Department / Institute from which the candidate has obtained his qualifying degree.
  • Gap certificate (if applicable).
  • Documentary proof regarding date of birth.
  • A letter of confirmation of the admission will be issued to the candidate after all the documents specified in (b) above have been submitted, verified and found in order.

For foreign candidates

  • Candidates seeking admission to the M.A. course shall apply for admission in the prescribed form. The application form duly filled in by the candidate in his own hand with a passport size photo affixed together with attested copies of the following documents must reach the Assistant Registrar, Academic Section by 20th May.
  • Statement of Marks of the last qualifying degree examination. (Bachelor’s degree)
  • Degree / Passing certificate
  • Migration Certificate (no objection certificate from the University last attended).
  • Character certificate from the Head of the Department / Institute from which the candidate has obtained his qualifying degree.
  • Documentary proof regarding date of birth.

Note :

  • Incomplete Application will not be considered for admission.
  • Having been found prima facie eligible for admission to the course, the student will be given a provisional admission letter by which he/she can obtain Students Visa for study at this Institute. ( A student will not be admitted to the course without a proper Student Visa).
  • On obtaining the Students Visa the candidate shall arrive at the Deccan College and submit the eligibility application along with original and photocopies of the certificates listed in (a) above as also the Students Visa.
  • The medium of instruction for all these courses at the Institute is English. It is therefore essential that the student has sound knowledge of English. To test this the student shall appear for Proficiency Test in English Language. Only those students who pass the test shall be admitted to the course. The following students shall be exempted from appearing for the test:
    • Who are native speakers of English Language.
    • Who are seeking admission through the Government of India Scholarship Scheme (ICCR S’ ship holders)
    • Who have migrated from an Indian University and have passed the English Language Test of that University.
    • Who have passed the test conducted by this Institute during their admission to an earlier degree/diploma course at this Institute.
    • Foreign students will have to undergo a medical check-up at a medical centre to be specified by the Institute. Only those students who are found medically fit will be admitted to the course.
